Here’s a quick riddle for you: can you name the book that’s crammed with real-life stories about cowboy builders, menopausal mums, cheating wives and debt-ridden dads? Surprisingly, it’s the Bible. And once you scratch the surface, it’s got more to say about life today than you might imagine.

That’s what the Riddle of Life competition was all about.  During May and June 2007, we advertised 7 riddles to solve across Greater Manchester - all taken from real-life Bible stories. Hundreds entered the competition – but there was only one winner – a nurse from Oldham who generously gave her £7,000 prize to a local drugs project.
