  EXPLORING THE BIBLE FURTHER

Obviously, you could just pick up any old Bible and give it a whirl. If you’re a beginner, we recommend you start off with a modern English translation such as the Good News Bible (available from Bible Society’s online shop). However, even with the right Bible, people often try to read it from start to finish, beginning with Genesis. Doing this means it’s all too easy to get bogged down in the laws of Leviticus - the second book of the Bible - and then quickly lose interest. So an approach that helps you to dip in and out can sometimes be easier. There are several resources we recommend that can help ease you into the Bible step-by-step:

  The Bite-Size Bible

Breaking real Bible text into easily digestible chunks, the Bite-Size Bible puts all the ’best bits’ together - stories, famous passages and characters - to give you a great taster of the Bible. It’s perfect for dipping in and out and for giving you a real sense of the Good Book as a whole. You can buy this book, with a 10% discount, at the Bible Society’s online shop

  The Espresso Bible

This book offers 'the Bible in sips'. It's essentially a shortened form of the Bible that contains whole passages as well as helpful background information. The Espresso Bible will help you understand how it all hangs together without having to wade through the whole lot. You can buy this book, with a 10% discount, at the Bible Society's online shop.
