'The Riddle of Life' Competition - Official Rules / Terms and Conditions

No purchase necessary. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Open only to residents of the United Kingdom.

1. Eligibility
The promotion (the 'Promotion') is open only to legal residents of the United Kingdom who are of full legal age at the time of entry (i.e. 18 years of age or over). Employees of the Bible Society, or members of its Greater Manchester Liaison Group, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee/member are not eligible. The Promotion is subject to all relevant and applicable laws and regulations and participation constitutes the entrant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and the Sponsor's decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Promotion. Winning the prize is contingent on fulfilling all requirements set forth herein and subject at all times to the Sponsor's discretion.

3.Timing
The Promotion begins at 12.01 am GMT 5th May 2007 and ends at 11.59pm GMT on 31st July 2007 (the 'Promotion Period').

4. How to enter
The Award can be entered free of charge using the entry forms found on the beer-mats and washroom panels in the Greater Manchester area, or on the Riddle of Life website, www.theriddleoflife.org. The correct missing words must be completed and a charity, school or hospital nominated. In addition, all required fields on the entry forms must be completed legibly. Failure to complete any of the required fields or any of the information being illegible, will deem the entry ineligible.

One entry only is allowable per individual. In the event of multiple entries, only one will be counted. All potential winning entrants are subject to verification by the Sponsor whose decisions are final and binding. An entrant is not a winner unless and until the entrant's eligibility has been verified and the entrant has been notified that verification is complete. Sponsor will not accept other evidence of winning in lieu of its validation process.

5. Acceptable Causes
The Promotion consists of the award of £7,000 to be given away by the winner to EITHER a) an official charity registered with the Charity Commission at an address within the Greater Manchester Metropolitan County (as determined by its latest Charity Correspondent) OR b) a school or hospital based within the Greater Manchester Metropolitan County (as determined by its postcode). The winner of the competition can choose who the award is given to as long as the recipient meets these criteria, subject to the Sponsor's discretion.

6. Promotion selection
The selected winner must comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. One winner will be selected randomly from all correct entries and the selection of the winner is final and binding. The prize draw will take place by 31 August 2007. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. The Prize Winner may be required to sign and return to Sponsor, within ten (10) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent, formal confirmation of eligibility, confirmation of liability and publicity release in order to claim his/her prize. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, or fails to sign and return the formal documentation as requested within the required time period, or the prize is returned as undelivered, the potential winner forfeits the prize. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining entries received during the Promotion Period.

No cash or other substitution, assignment or transfer of the prize is permitted.

7. Publicity
Except where legally prohibited, participation in the Promotion constitutes the winner's consent to the Sponsor's use of winner's name and entry, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions, biographical information and hometown for promotional purposes in any media without further payment or consideration or further formality.

8. General Conditions
Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Promotion if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control impairs or undermines the integrity of the Promotion, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. In such an event, Sponsor reserves the right to award the prize at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it suspects to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of this or any other Promotion or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules, or in an unsportsmanlike or unfair or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any web site or promotional media or undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion is a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

9. Release
By entering this Promotion, entrant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Bible Society and all its promotional partners, each of their related companies, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively 'Released Partners') from and against any losses, damages, rights, claim or cause of action of any kind arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, out of participation in the Promotion or resulting directly or indirectly, from acceptance of the Prize, to the fullest extent permitted under the relevant and applicable laws.

10. Waiver of Liability
Released Parties are not responsible for; (i) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software; (ii) the unavailability or inaccessibility or any transmissions or telephone or internet service; (iii) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process of the Promotion; (iv) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Promotion or the processing of entries; or (v) any injury or damage to persons property, including but not limited to entrant's computer, hardware or software, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or part, from the entrant's participation in the Promotion.

11. Indemnification
By submitting your entry or entries you represent that the entry is your own and that you have the full rights associated with the entry and that your entry will not violate or infringe the rights of any third person. You are solely responsible for complying with all relevant and applicable laws, rules and directives and will hold the Released Parties harmless from any liability arising from your participation in the Promotion.

12. Disputes and Governing Law
Entrant agrees that; (i) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion, or prizes awarded, other than the administration of the Promotion or the determination of the winner, shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of legal action; (ii) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Promotion but in no event legal fees.; and (iii) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed exclusively by the laws of England

13. Non-endorsement
The use of any non-Sponsor trademark, service marks, logos or other marks in connection with the Promotion or prize is not meant to imply the endorsement of the respective owner(s) of such marks, or any affiliation of the respective owner(s) of such marks with the Sponsor Web site or the Promotion.

14. Entrant's Personal Information
Any information collected by the Sponsor from website visitors depends on how they use this website.

The Sponsor collects information about the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of all website visitors in order to see how the website is used and monitor site traffic so as to continuously improve and develop the design and content of our site. This information is not personally identifiable information - it is general and anonymous.

Personal information provided by you through any of the forms on this website will be held by the Sponsor and may be used for further communications about our mission and activities. 15. Promotion results
Promotion results and/or a copy of these Official Rules may be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to 'The Riddle of Life Rules Request', BIBLE SOCIETY, Stonehill Green, Westlea, Swindon, SN5 7DG. The information will be available after 1st September 2007, and requests must be received by 31 October 2007. Promotion results will be announced on The Riddle of Life website, www.theriddleoflife.org.uk, including the name and home county of the winner and the receiving charity/hospital/school.
